Texas House District 96 encompasses a portion of southeastern Tarrant County. Portions of Fort Worth and Arlington lay within the District boundaries, along with other communities such as Crowley, Burleson (partial), Mansfield (partial), Forest Hill (partial), Kennedale and others.

The total population of District 96 in the 2000 US Census was 148,648, representing 50,613 households.
